Obituary of Mabel Reive
MABEL MARY REIVE passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 24, 2019 at the age 97.
She was predeceased in 2004 by her husband of 60 years, Wilfred (Wood) Reive.
She is survived by her children Richard, Thomas, and Michell (Bruce); her granddaughters Margaret, Catharine (Scott), Melissa, and Sofia; and great-grandchildren Jaiden and Charlie.
Beloved only child of Richard and Violet (Holtby) Little, Mabel was born in Peel County, attended Brampton High School, and completed her BA at Victoria College, University of Toronto in 1942. After the war, Mabel and Wood moved to Kitchener where he set up his medical practice. In 1951 they built a home where she enjoyed entertaining, playing bridge, gardening, and needlework. Mabel was an accomplished pianist, and loved singing with family and friends. She also enjoyed attending the KW Symphony and Stratford Festival, and volunteering with the KW Art Gallery. She joined Trinity United Church in 1947 and served in many capacities. Mabel traveled extensively, visiting over 60 countries on six continents. She was blessed with good health and many enduring friendships that enriched her life.
A memorial service will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St S, Waterloo on Saturday March 2, 2019. Visitation from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, followed by a service at 11am.
