Obituary for Leslie Ivan Frayne
Passed away surrounded by family, in Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus on February 1, 2019 at age 72. Cherished husband of Margaret (McRorie), loving father to Mark (Tammy), Paul (Jennifer) and Craig, proud grandpa to Owen, Caden, Griffin and Liam. Survived by his sisters Eleanor (Bob Clark) of Exeter and Grace (Gary Plonka) of Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Les will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by an infant son, his parents Ivan and Thelma, of Forest Ontario.
Les was a graduate of the University of Guelph in agriculture science and of the MBA program at McMaster University. Les worked in government programs and for the Bank of Montreal in agriculture finance. He served on the Board of Directors of Edge Mutual Insurance Company and his church’s hiring and finance committees. Family was most important to Les. He loved the outdoors, camping and exploring the Bruce and spending time at Miller Lake. He enjoyed coaching and watching his sons’ and grandsons’ sporting events. He had a true passion for his farm and his volunteer work managing projects in Central America with the disadvantaged rural poor for SHARE Agriculture Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00pm & 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 2:00pm at Melville United Church, Tower and St. Andrew St., Fergus with a reception to follow.
