It is with deep sadness that that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Amma, Long Amma, Aunt and Great Aunt on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Charleswood Personal Care Home, 3 months short of her 102nd Birthday.
Leola was born in Glenboro, Manitoba on May 14, 1917. She lived there until she left to attend Normal School in Winnipeg. Mom was very proud of being a Teacher, a role she continued throughout her life. She was a school teacher, a leader in 4H, a Sunday School Teacher and most importantly a teacher of life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a quiet, kind and compassionate lady who was very proud of her Icelandic heritage.
She met her loving Husband Harold in Winnipeg while attending Normal School and they had 53 wonderful years together. They were blessed with 6 Children.
Leola leaves to mourn, her children, Carole (George), Ken, Gerry (Gloria), Lorelie (Terry), daughters-in-law, Linda, Gayle & Sharon, 12 grandchildren and their spouses, 22 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces & nephews.
She was predeceased by husband Harold in 1995, sons Vernon and Lynden, parents Ben & Lena Heidman, sisters Elenore, Beatrice, Emily & Esther, brother Howard and all of Harold’s Family.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 22nd at 11:00 A.M. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 637 Buckingham Road in Charleswood. Interment will follow at the Lundar Cemetery.
The Family wishes to express our deep appreciation to the staff at the Charleswood Home for the wonderful care that they have given Mom for the past 17 months.
In lieu of flowers, should one wish, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
Arnasons and the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre are in care of arrangements.
