Obituary of Kathleen Trethewey
TRETHEWEY (Mosher), Kathleen Phyllis – Age 95, New Germany. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Kathleen Phyllis Trethewey, on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in Ryan Hall, Bridgewater. Born in New Germany, she was the daughter of the late Annis and Leta (Waterman) Mosher. She died peacefully in her own way and on her own terms, surrounded by her loving family.
Kay was a member of the Epworth United Church, New Germany and a lifetime member of the United Church Women. She volunteered her time for many community organizations, such as the Lenten Soup Kitchen, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Meals on Wheels, New Germany Fire Department and thirteen years as badge secretary in the Girl Guide Movement. She enjoyed card games, nights at bingo, bowling in the Senior’s League and darts at the New Germany Legion. Along with a great sense of humour, Kay had a way that made everyone she met feel special. She had a fantastic memory for details about people and their families. Kay was particularly proud of her family enjoying every achievement, big or small.
She is survived by son, John (Debbie) Trethewey, Moose Jaw, Sask; daughters, Linda (Michael) Morrison, Bedford; Joan Russell, Beaverbank; Ann (Steven) Varner, Bedford; brother, Carl (Jean) Mosher; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews as well as a very special circle of friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald; son-in-law, Alan Russell; sister, Audrey (Robert) Veinot; twin brother, Kendall (Phyllis) Mosher. By request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Kay’s life will be held 11 a.m., Monday, February 11th in Epworth United Church, New Germany with Rev. David Lutes officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Epworth United Church, Ryan Hall Recreational Program or a charity of choice.
We are very grateful to the management, staff and residents of Ryan Hall where everyone there treated her with respect, kindness and always had a smile. We can’t say enough about the recreational team of Ryan Hall, you are the fairy dust that brings joy to the residents.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Kathleen
