Johnny passed away on February 3rd, 2019 at the age of 84 following a brief illness. Predeceased by his wife Josephine Cairns, he will be missed by his children Dean (Martha), Lisa, Maren, Jeremy and Amy (Francis) and grandchildren Joshua, Evan, Liam, Caelan, Remi and Julian, his stepsons Alastair (Ellie) and Michael (Kristi) and step-grandchildren Rowan, Bea, Sarah, Adam, and Leah. Predeceased by his parents, Ebenezer and Henrietta Kaitell, Johnny grew up in Nigeria with a loving family. He came to Canada in 1960 after studying in England and the United States and became a Canadian Citizen in 1965. Johnny retired from teaching high school with the OCDSB in 1996.
The family wishes to thank the medical teams at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus and the Elizabeth Bruyère Hospital for his care.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Ave (at Richmond Rd.), on Saturday, February 9th visitation at 12 with the service time in the Chapel at 1pm followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, In Memoriam donations to Elizabeth Bruyère Foundation, www.bruyere.org, would be appreciated by the family.
