Jeff Seip
1976 – 2019
It is with broken hearts and deep regret that the family of Jeff Seip share of his sudden passing on Friday, February 15, 2019, at his home in Cranbrook, British Columbia.
Jeff was born on December 28, 1976 in Thompson, Manitoba and grew up in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where he built a large circle of friends, all of whom have memories of Jeff pushing the limits and partaking in a bit of debauchery that always ended in a good laugh. Jeff’s passing comes after his father, Garry in 2002 and nephew, Deshien in 2011 as well as his loyal dog Betty, who never left his side and was guaranteed to be riding copilot in his jeep and accompanying him to any social gathering. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Julie, sons, Deion and Evan, mom, Kathi, sister Kim (Bob) and her children Jordan, Kolton and Kennedi, and brother Mike (Krista) and their daughter, Rayne.
Jeff’s family embraced his quick pace and will miss being on the receiving end of his humble sarcasm and sharp comebacks. Jeff proudly followed in his dad’s footsteps joining the CP Rail community as a brakeman and eventually to an engineer, positioned in London, Ontario, Moose Jaw and Cranbrook. Jeff channeled his abundance of energy through a range of outdoor sports and adventures. Racing motocross and breaking bones from a young age, reaching 4th in the 125cc class and 2nd in the 250cc class at the 1992 Canadian Nationals. He continued to race until his final memorial lap for nephew, Deshien in 2011. Jeff spent endless summer days at Buffalo Pound Lake with a boat full of friends and family taking turns getting coached on how to wakeboard and surf or by getting a wild ride on the tube to see who could hang on with Jeff behind the throttle. Jeff’s love of recreation and the outdoors drew him to move his young family to the mountains where hiking with the dogs, Vinnie and Nellie, camping in the backcountry, snowboarding and mountain biking were taken up at every opportunity. It was with great pride and passion that he led his boys exploring every adventure their natural environment offered. He was more than happy, in true ‘Clark’ style, to take on the challenge of safely guiding Kim, Kennedi, Krista, Rayne and Kiley up Fisher Peak mountain. Jeff’s character was truly admired by his snowmobile gang. Meeting up for a day of riding brought many stories of breaking through clouds to sunny mountain peaks, near-misses, getting stuck in tree-wells and metered deep powder, all the while with continuous comedic banter.
Kathi expresses heartfelt appreciation to the first responders of Cranbrook, whose compassion and respect were deeply received, especially to Constable Peter Sanders for his personal care; also to the teen neighbours for showing maturity and responsibility during a critical moment. As well, a special thank you to Brett Jerred for providing strength and support in times of need and to Chad McPherson for sponsoring and supporting Jeff through 9 years of sobriety.
An informal gathering of friends and family to celebrate Jeff will take place on Saturday, February 23rd at 2:00 at the Golden Nugget Centre – Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds (250 Thatcher Drive East).
Donations will be graciously accepted to a Registered Education Savings Plan for Deion and Evan in care of Michael Seip – 87 Malibou Road, SW, Calgary, AB, T2V 1X4.
In loving memory of Jeff, a memorial tree planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services.
