Janet E. Quinn
1947-2019
It is with sadness we announce the
peaceful passing of Janet E. Quinn, age
72, of Economy, NS. Janet passed away on Monday, February
18, 2019 in Truro, NS.
Born in Halifax, NS, she was a daughter
of the late Honora (Ferguson) Atkinson Dobson.
Janet, along with her husband Angus,
owned and operated the popular Hilltop Family Restaurant in Springhill
for nearly 30 years, where they made many wonderful friends.
After selling the restaurant, they moved to Lower Economy where they
opened the Hightide Bed and Breakfast and operated this business out
of their home overlooking the Minas Basin.
Janet was a “people person”;
she loved meeting her guests from all over the world and enjoyed
hearing all about the countries they came from. She liked
nothing better than showing her guests around the area where she
lived.
Janet loved and enjoyed her children and
grandchildren very much. She passed her love of photography
onto her children. She was never happier than when she had
her camera in her hand and was roaming the back trails taking
pictures. It was very rare to see Janet without her
camera. She loved and appreciated the beautiful scenery,
wildlife and numerous birds that were so abundant around her
home. Her pictures bear testament to this.
In addition to her husband of almost 60
years, Angus Quinn, Economy, she will be dearly missed by her
daughters Elizabeth Cotton, Wallace, NS and Heather (Wayne) Knapman,
Halifax, NS; son Paul (Natasha) Bible Hill, NS; grandchildren Amanda
(Eric) and Amy Cotton and Madelyn & Logan Quinn; brothers
Edward (Valerie) Dobson, Springhill, NS and William (Bonnie) Dobson,
Halifax, NS; sisters Heather (Delbert) Warner, Barney’s River, NS and
Cynthia (James) Pretty, Halifax, NS; as well as several nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by her son in law
Roger Cotton and life long friend Linda Hatton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St.,
Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where an Evening of Remembrance will be
held on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm. Burial
will take place in the Economy Cemetery in the
spring.
