Obituary of James “Jim” Gillanders
Gillanders, James Edwin “Jim, The man with the Mustache”
Jim, a resident of Tupperville, passed away, surrounded by his family on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the age of 71.
He was born in Leamington and was the son of the late Edson and Hazel (nee Hooker) Gillanders.
Jim was a proud owner of Uppercut Boxers where he was a breeder, owner-handler of his beloved boxers.
His passions were the Toronto Maple Leafs, fishing, showing horses, playing cards, billiards, a good fish fry and his Blue Lite.
Beloved husband of Francine Gillanders (nee Gazarek).
Loving father of Tammy Gillanders-Kells and Shawn Kells, Terry Gillanders and Kevin Cadeau and Tanya and Jon Myers all of Chatham.
Dear step-father of Christine Rivard and Matt Delaet of Merlin and Carri and Pete Chapple of Chatham.
Proud grandpa of Ryerson, Camden, Claire, Kate, Jack, Libby, Joanne, Rowen and Willow.
Close bro of Larry and Carm Gillanders of Leamington.
Special uncle of Jane, Molly, Brooke and Brady.
Brother of Judy (Bill) Jamieson.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, ON, on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 5-8 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Betty Jean Paige, officiating.
Cremation to follow.
Donations in memory of Jim to Boxer Rescue Ontario would be appreciated.
