Jack Boyd 2019

BOYD, Jack
The family announces with great sadness his peaceful passing in Sudbury at Health Sciences North on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Loving husband to Eveline Boyd. Beloved father to Jackie Allen (Richard), Eileen Creasey (Jody) and Robert Boyd (Rita). Cherished grandfather to Josh Boyd (Amber), Alisha Creasey, Samantha Creasey, Robbie Boyd and Rachel Boyd and great-grandfather to Jessie, Elizabeth, Lillian and Allison. Jack will always be remembered and missed by his relatives, friends and all the Bahá’í community in which he was a steadfast servant. He was kind, genuine, humble, patient, caring and had a wonderful sense of humor. Jack was an accomplished writer and the best story teller. In his younger years, Jack was a runner with the Clydsedale Harriers in Dontocher, Scotland and an avid mountain climber. He also coached an Aboriginal Track & Field high school team near Yellowknife. And had won a bronze medal at the World Masters Championship for the Pentathalon in the early 1990’s. Jack was a 5 time Canadian discus champion and competed into his late 70’s. In his later years, he was a dedicated volunteer for the Mended Hearts Cardiac Support Group. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury on Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. A service will be held in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Donations can be made by cheque or online to the Maison McCulloch Hospice or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
