Idamo Sodini was born in S.S. Annunziata, Italy and passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Poplar Ridge, at the age of 91. His daughters were by his side. He was a beloved husband, father and nonno.
Idamo leaves behind his daughters Anna (John) Whyte and Manuela (Brent) Simister, along with his four grandchildren, Brennan, Christopher, Melanie and Serena; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Maria, and his sisters and brother.
Idamo left Italy to find work in Canada. After doing so, he returned back home, married Maria and together they immigrated to Canada to start a new life together. He spent many years employed at the City of Trail as a labourer, working in all types of weather. He was a committed, loyal and hard-working employee. He always took pride in a job well-done.
Although Idamo was a quiet man, he was always visible in the community walking downtown, attending church and watering his lawn. He found great pleasure in the garden tending to his tomato plants. Although he was heart-broken with the passing of his dear wife, he was determined to carry on.
A Vigil Service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
