Greg Costa
Very sadly Greg Costa passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at The Carpenter Hospice from complications associated with cancer. He was surrounded by a circle of love as he peacefully passed into the arms of God.
He is survived by his loving wife Marika (nee Wilk), son Andrew Costa his wife Lee-Ann and daughter Alison Costa; grandchildren Ethan and Dylan; sisters Ann Costa (Tony), Sav DiGennaro (Dino) and Cathy Allegra (Russell); brother-in-law Jerry Wilk (Martha) and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Nazzareno and Orsola (nee Pezzo) Costa.
Greg was a teacher both in elementary and secondary schools in Toronto and Halton holding roles such as a Special Education Department Head and Principal in Continuing Education. His passion was helping students of all abilities to achieve their potential to succeed. He was also committed to the Terry Fox Foundation, Burlington Golf and Country’s Curling Club, volunteering at the RBG, and was a past president of his condo board. Greg was passionate about gardening and had a love for photography.
As per his wishes, private cremation has taken place. A Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 12 noon until the Celebration of Life which will commence at 1:00pm. Reception will immediately follow at the funeral home.
Greg specifically requested that in lieu of flowers, in his memory, please donate to either the Terry Fox Foundation (secure.terryfox.ca/registrant/DonationPage.aspx?eventid=203789&langpref=en-CA&Referrer=https%3a%2f%2fwww.terryfox.org%2f) or The Carpenter Hospice (Burlington Community Rotary Hospice).
