Predeceased by Randy (Patsy) Nielsen, Ricky Nielsen, Bill Nielsen, Suzanne Nielsen and Peter Nielsen.
Uncle Gordy will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Gordy will be missed by the many friends he has made over the years from the fire hall and many leagues for pool, darts and shuffleboard that he was a part of. In his heart, there was no difference between good friends and family. He loved you all. Gord began his career as a professional firefighter in 1965 with the Timmins Fire Department where he retired as Lieutenant in 1994. This was a career he took great pride in. Dad loved spending time with family. Nothing made him smile more than seeing his grandkids. He was in his happy place when he was driving bush roads in his truck with the love of his life Donna. Many of his fondest memories were from time spent at the cottage and his brother Ray’s cottage where summer vacations were spent and where their annual hunting trip took place. Oh, the stories we have heard from those hunting trips. Special thank you to the wonderful staff at Extendicare. Your compassion and love for dad will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday February 4, 2019 at 12 p.m. (Noon) in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home 705-268-4488. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences and donations can be made at www.lessardstephens.com
