Johnson, Francis “Blackie”, age 66, Paqtnkek Mikmaw
Nation passed away peacefully on February 3, 2019 in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital surrounded by
family.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Andrew and
Martha (Mosey) Johnson.
Known by his family and friends as “Blackie”, he
was an outdoorsman. His passion was salmon fishing and eeling. He also
loved participating in sports, especially horseshoes, bowling, and
baseball. Blackie cherished the memories of his pilgrimage to
Medjugorge in 1995.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family but
will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, and Godchildren, Trevor
Gould and Logan Johnson. He also leaves behind his good friend Daniel
“Danny” Prosper and his dog, Bella.
He was predeceased by his brothers : Abraham “Boy”;
John “Suedoll”; Richard “Boodie”; sisters:
Pauline, Edna, and Mary “Molly”.
Visitation will be in his residence at 61 Petow Loop
Extension after 5:00 pm on Tuesday. Funeral Mass will be held in
Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton on Thursday at 11:00 am with
Reverend Andrew Gillies presiding. Burial in St. Ann’s
Cemetery, Summerside. A Salite will follow in Paqtnkek
Gymnasium.
