Conrad, Emma Agnes, 88, of
Truro, passed away Saturday, February 23,
2019, at the QE ll Halifax Infirmary, after a short illness. Born in
Coverdale, Albert County, NB, and brought up in Amherst, NS, she was a
daughter of the late Warren Leon and Sarah Agnes (Hicks) Hoeg. Emma
was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived
by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George
Conrad; sisters, Grace Lee, Violet Wells, Barbara Creelman; brothers,
Warren and Norman Hoeg, and brothers, William and John Hoeg in
infancy. Emma was a life member of the Hospital Auxiliary, and a
volunteer at the hospital coffee shop every Tuesday afternoon for over
20 years. She was an active member of St. John’s Anglican
Church Truro and the church choir. Also a member of the Mel-o-dees,
and the Happy Harmonies. Emma loved life and people and had great
pleasure in making towels and mittens for the hospital gift shop. She
also loved to travel, especially her many cruises, and was well known
for her great flair of fashion. No visitation by request. Funeral
service will be held 11 am Monday, March 4, at St. John’s
Anglican Church, Church Street Truro, with The Reverend Lori Ramsey
officiating. A reception will follow in Kaulbach Hall. Interment at a
later date in the Terrace Hill Cemetery Truro. In lieu of flowers
donations may be made to the C.E.H.H.C. Hospital Auxiliary, We Care
About Cancer, or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been
entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street
