LANE, Elliot – With broken hearts and overwhelming sadness, our family announces the
sudden passing of Elliot John Lane, age 28, on February 1, 2019. Our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend. Those who knew Elliot, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. Elliot will be missed everyday by his parents, Brendan and Julie (Ciccarelli); his devoted brothers, Owen and Oliver; his loving grandparents, Donato and Maria Ciccarelli, Mary Catherine Lane; his affectionate aunts and uncles, Lydia (Ciccarelli) and Bill Hall, Justina Ciccarelli, Brian Lane, Barry Lane, Denise (Lane) and John Rishworth, Rob Lane, Sean and Cathy (Sorby) Lane; and many treasured cousins and great friends. Elliot is at peace with his aunt, Susan Lane, and grandfather, Jack Lane, both of whom he loved and adored.
We are so proud of what Elliot accomplished in his short time on Earth. He was born with a radiant smile and a type of power that had people gravitate towards him. His bear hugs were genuine and heartwarming. He grew up in Puslinch, Ontario and just recently moved to downtown Guelph, were he enjoyed walking along the river near his condo. Elliot attended
St. John’s-Kilmarnock for his high school years and left a mark for his leadership and athleticism. He went on to study at Acadia University and played varsity Rugby. Later he attended Algonquin College where he took Business Administration. Since a tender young age, Elliot was drawn to work at Lane Sales, the family business in numerous capacities. Beginning as a warehouse employee and then as a highly respected National Account Manager. He led the representation of the toy manufacturers we work with, selling to all the large Canadian retailers. He had a terrific ability to “pitch” a product or product line to his buyers, helping them understand why they needed to have what he was “pitching” in their stores. Managing the accounts that he did, was done professionally, respectfully and done at a younger age than
most of his peers. He was a member of the Beaver Valley Ski Club and passionate about his
freestyle skiing. He was a devoted coach and judged in recent years. He spent his summers at the cottage in Bayfield, a place that brought him great joy, a second home, where he was free to be himself. It will always be his happy place. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St. Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 6th from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday, February 7th from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 8th at 11 a.m. at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph. A private burial in Bayfield will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Pioneer Park Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Donation cards are available at the funeral home, or donations and condolences may be sent online, at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com
