Elizabeth Sutherland 2019

Elizabeth Sutherland
It is with
sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother,
Elizabeth (Bunny) Sutherland (Alford). She passed on Wednesday,
February 27, 2019 at the age of 81. Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick
on October 25, 1937, she was the only daughter of Rexford and Florence
Alford (Dobson) of Tide Head, New
Brunswick.
Bunny was
born and raised in a loving close-knit family of considerable size,
loyalty, eccentricities. She adored all of her extended family in Tide
Head, Atholville and Campbellton. She never forgot their antics while
growing up in a time when carefree exploits were greatly admired.
Bunny moved to Moncton in her early years with her best friend,
Shirley Pollock, to attend Success Business College. It was at that
time that she met her husband to be, William Sutherland. Bunny was
employed at various places over the years such as the City of Moncton
billing department, Eaton’s catalog distribution centre and
St. Patrick’s Family Centre. Bunny loved all creatures large
and small, but her one special friend was her Shih Tzu, Molly. Bunny
was a willing participant in any scheme to raise a little fun or bend
a rule just for the sake of bending it. She cherished her time spent
at her summer cottage in The Bluff, riding her dirt bike back and
forth to Harriet Parsons house for a midsummer’s evening
soiree. Gardening, painting, shingling, raking endless leaves,
plunging a toilet or fixing the pump, there was no task too big or
small that she could not tackle. She loved Hallowe’en
costumes, making scotch cakes at Christmas, enjoying a
Mother’s Day lobster, quilting, knitting and especially
catching up on the news with friends while enjoying a coffee and a
sweet.
Bunny was a
loving mother to four children, Mark (Valerie), Brian (Janice), Chris
and Melissa. A grandmother to two grandchildren, Megan and Lauren and
a great grandmother to one great grandchild, Charlie. Bunny is
predeceased by her parents, Rexford and Florence, her husband, William
and son, Mark who passed from brain cancer in
2017.
As per
Bunny’s wishes, there will be no visitation and a private
service will be held in the summer at the Campbellton Rural Cemetery
in Campbellton, New Brunswick.
