Obituary for
Elizabeth Ina Cawfield (McClinton)
Passed away at the Civic Hospital’s Neurology Department on the evening of Monday, January 28, 2019, after a severe stroke. Beloved wife of Reverend George Cawfield, first minister of Kanata Baptist Church, and mother to son Brian (Scott) Cawfield and daughter-in-law Diana Louise Cawfield. Loved and respected as a leader by friends and colleagues who knew her. Head Nurse in Winchester and in Petrolia, and then retired from nursing after being Assistant Director of Nurses at the Grace Hospital in Ottawa. Speaker and teacher for organizations such as Medix. A tower of strength in being a fearless advocate for social justice issues, particularly the rights of the poor, homeless, women and children. Leader and influencer for all good things. Solid professional in her fields. Exceptional generosity, talent and good judgement.
Thank you to the Doctors, particularly Dr. Lucien Sitwell and Dr. Xu of the Neurology Department of the Ottawa (Civic) Hospital, and staff who showed that they cared deeply and continuously. Thank you to friends from the Kanata Baptist Church for constant and helpful support, particularly Carolyn and David Brown, Wendy and Jim Marr, ministers Rev. Doug Ward and Rev. Bob Davies, and others who visited and showed how they cared.
Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road), Ottawa on Friday, February 8, 2019 from between 2 and 4 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the Kanata Baptist Church, 465 Hazeldean Road, Ottawa.
