Obituary of Effie Spencer
Effie Georgina Louise Spencer, age 86 of Blomidon, passed away February 19, 2019 at home. Born in Highfield, Hants Co., she was a daughter of the late Watson Benedict and the late Ethel Benedict (Sanford). She was the last surviving member of her family.
Effie was employed by Avon Valley Green Houses for a number of years before working at Dykeland Lodge as a CNA and finally as a private nurse before retiring. Effie was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 009 for many years.
She is survived by her son, Randy Hunter, Calgary; daughters, Patsy Catudel (Dominique), Quebec; Krista Hunter (Jim Keizer), Ontario; Shelley Lake, Belmont; Brenda Hunter, Edmonton; Tanya Robarts (Ian Gidney), Digby; stepson, Douglas; stepdaughters, Cathy (Paul) and Betty (Tim), all of Springhill; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren, as well as great great- grandchildren.
Effie was predeceased by her husband, Lowell; daughter, Debbie; granddaughter, Nicola Hunter; son-in-law, John Lake; six sisters and three brothers.
A Legion Service will be held and a Celebration of Life following on Monday, February 25th from 1-4 p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion in Windsor, Hants Co. Burial at a later date. Memorial donations in memory may be made to St. Silas Cemetery Memorial Fund, in c/o Mrs. Sylvia Sanford, 1192 Belmont Rd., Belmont, NS B0N 2A0. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
