Dorothy Moorcroft Wednesday February 20th 2019

Moorcroft, Dorothy Monica
December 23, 1923 – February 20, 2019
Born to Edward Moorcroft and Mary Joyce. Sister of John (Edna) and Margaret (Don) Burden, all deceased. Sister to Beatrice Joan Jeffrey (the late James). Aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousin to Helen and Bernice (nee Demers). She was active in Holy Family and Sacred Heart choirs. While at Holy Family, Fr. Mattice instilled the love of drama where she participated in the Passion Plays, one act skits (shared with different parishes), St. Thomas More Players, and the Catholic Theatre where she participated in the provincial Drama Festival and received an award for a supporting actress. She retired as a long-time employee from Suncor Company.
Dorothy moved to St. Elizabeth Village and lived there for 30 years before moving to St. Joseph’s Villa. Dorothy travelled extensively, East and West Coast, Europe, North Africa, New York and Alaska. She became interested in painting watercolours and left us some pleasant pictures. She liked gardening and was an avid reader. Special thanks to the staff of Cedar Grove where she received good care and enjoyed a lovely view. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, masses on her behalf are always welcome or donations can be made to the Good Shepherd or National Catholic Broadcasting at P.O. 54035, Markham ON. L3P 7Y4. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church (at the corner of Mountain Brow and Viewpoint Ave.) on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
