Donat Lamarche
November 19, 1927 – January 30, 2019
This kind, loving and hardworking man was born in LaFleche, Saskatchewan to Henedine and Alsphonse Lamarche in 1927, the third of eleven children. He moved to Dryden in 1947 to work in the bush, going back home each summer to help on the family farm. Donat married Dorothy Duprey in 1956 and together, over 62 years, they created a home for their three children – Donna, Sherri and Ron. Donat drove truck and eventually became a heavy duty mechanic at the Woodlands Garage.
Donat loved to go camping, fishing and blueberry picking. He was an excellent carpenter like his grandfather Amede Piche and often helped his grown children with building their homes. He was curious about life and well read.
Donat is survived by his wife Dorothy, children Donna (Scott), Sherri (Greg) and Ron as well as 4 grandchildren Isaac, Alyssa (Cory), Maja (Richard) and Scott and great grandchild Xander. He has 7 surviving sisters and was predeceased by 3 brothers, and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date during interment of ashes. The family thanks ALL the compassionate staff of the Dryden Regional Health Centre – he spent his time there in comfort and dignity because of you.
If friends so desire donations may be made to DRHC Palliative Care Fund through Stevens Funeral Homes, PO Box 412, Dryden ON, P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be posted at www.stevensfuneralhomes.ca.
