Obituary of Cora Coulter
It is with great sadness in our hearts that our family announces the passing of Cora Jane Coulter. Cora passed away peacefully on February 15, 2019, at the age of 83. Cora was born on April 6, 1935 in Moose Jaw. She was the oldest child of Violet and Reg Coulter. She grew up in the Crestwynd district and was a well loved member of that community. Cora attended Piety Hill School and also spent much of her time helping her family on the farm, in particular, working alongside her mother and grandmother in the home. Cora was known for her outgoing personality, ever present smile and strong hugs. She absolutely loved people and loved to socialize. However, she could be quite bossy and was a stickler for good manners. She was not shy about telling visitors that hats could not be worn in the house and cats and dogs belonged outside. She would shake her finger at you if you did not listen to her. Cora enjoyed attending church and particularly loved church music. She would often hum or sing as she worked around the house. Cora enjoyed travel and took many special vacations with her family over the years, traveling often to Ontario and British Columbia. Cora also loved jewellery. She treasured her large broach collection and many beautiful necklaces and bracelets. Cora was a beloved auntie and her nieces and nephews have fond memories of their time with her, in particular on the farm, where she enjoyed pushing them on the swing and always sent them home with chocolates and candies. Later in life Cora moved into Moose Jaw where she lived with her parents and then later moved to Pioneer Lodge. Cora was very happy at Pioneer Lodge and considered the other residents and staff to be her family. Cora’s life was a blessing, being a true example of unconditional love, the bonds of family and the joy to be taken in the simple things. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters Sharon (Bryan Gilbert) and Terry (Spencer Barber), as well as nieces, nephews, friends and family members, who loved her dearly. Cora touched the hearts of many people and she will be greatly missed. All are welcome to attend a Celebration of her Life on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Jones Funeral Home, 106 Athabasca St E, Moose Jaw; a viewing will be held at 12:30 pm, followed by the service at 1:30 pm. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Pioneer Lodge, who loved and cared for Cora. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Cora’s name to Pioneer Lodge or to a charity of your choice. In living memory of Cora a memorial planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services.
