Obituary of Catherine Prentice
PRENTICE, Catherine
Passed away peacefully, following a brief illness on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the age of 88 years.
Catherine is survived by her daughter Heather (Tony) McCoy and son Brian (Corie) Prentice, granddaughters Stephanie McCoy and her daughter Teiryn and Kelly (Mike) Bulgarelli and their children Tanner and Mya. She was predeceased by her husband John, her parents John and Margaret (nee Duncan) and her sister Margaret.
Together with her husband John, they owned and operated Heritage Yarns in St. Jacobs now “A touch of Scotland”. Scottish dancing was Catherine’s passion. She taught under the RSCDS for 50 years. They also started the Burns supper in St. Jacobs and had a long-standing tradition of 50 years of hosting the New Years Eve Party with plenty of dancing in their own home.
We would like to thank all the staff, nurses and PSW’s at Columbia Forest Long Term Care for all the compassion & care while Mom lived there
Friends are invited to share their memories of Catherine with her family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 11:30 – 12:45 pm. A memorial service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow. Cremation will have taken place.
Condolences for the family and donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
