It is with heavy hearts that the family of Carol Dianne MacKenzie announce her passing which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice, surrounded by her loving family on Friday February 1, 2019. Born in Saint John November 24, 1951 she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Elizabeth Joyce (Holden) McCutcheon. Carol was a loving and devoted wife, mother and Nana. She always made all who entered her home feel welcome. Carol loved her family and friends especially her Nashville Girls and Bingo buddies. She will be remembered for her love of Lady Bugs, Bingo and her beautiful nails.
Carol worked at the Dairy Queen in Grand Bay for 15 years. She left when her first grandchild was born and that led to a second career of watching children, including all 4 of her grandkids. All of whom loved and respected her very much.
Carol loved primitive crafts, getting away for a night or a weekend on shopping or camping trips and talking for hours on the phone with her best friend and sister Rose, sometimes even after just spending the entire weekend together. Christmas was Carol’s favorite time of year and everyone knew how much she looked forward to watching endless Hallmark Christmas movies, putting up decorations and opening presents. Sometimes even peeking if in a gift bag.
Listening to George Jones, watching Little house on the prairie over and over again and watching traffic were some of Carol’s favorite things to do. From her dry sense of humour to how she liked everything in her house organized a certain way, to needing to always drive under the speed limit and avoid certain exits due to heights. Carol will be missed by all who knew her.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 40 years Lee MacKenzie of Grandbay-Westfield; son Jay MacKenzie (Sarah) of Saint John; daughter Jaime London (Jason) of Grandbay- Westfield; step-son Christopher MacKenzie of Halifax; precious grandchildren Mackenzie, Emma-Elizabeth, Carson and Jack; brothers Brian McCutcheon of Saint John, and Gordon McCutcheon (Brenda) of Truro, NS; sisters Linda DeSaulniers (Edward) of Grandbay-Westfield and Rose Smith (Ron) of Smithtown, NB; brother-in-law Kendall MacKenzie (Mildred) of Kentville, NS; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Carol was predeceased by her brother Reginald McCutcheon.
