LAFONTAINE, Brigitte – peacefully at her home on Saturday February 9th in Elliot Lake Ontario with her family by her side. She was 98 Years old. Pre-deceased by her common law husband Lionel Major, she was the loving mother of Ronald Lafontaine of Elliot Lake, Donald (Sandra) of St. Catharines, Huguette Proulx (late Jean Claude Jacques), Claire Lemieux of Sturgeon Falls, Jean-Guy (Lise) of Elliot Lake, late Lisette Breton (late Raynald), late Colette Lafontaine, Nicole Lafontaine of Elliot Lake, Marie-Anne Lafontaine of Alberta and Gérard (Carole) of Azilda. She will be sadly missed by 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by her parents John and Mathilda Lunam and pre-deceased by her sisters Annie Groulx (late Gaston) and Sarah Bérubé (late Fred). She leaves behind many nephews and nieces.
A huge thank you for the love and commitment throughout the years that her daughter Nicole did for her Mom. To the PSW’s Natacha, Penny, Carrie, Dr Barry Wannan and others who cared and loved her, thank you. Your dedication and hard work will never be forgotten.
Brigitte was a huge fan of the Québec Nordics in her younger years and proudly wore her jacket. She spent many years of her senior life enjoying the cottages of Cinder Lake and Dunlop Lake. Brigitte was a proud lady, devoted to her children and her family was her life. She was truly loved and will be sadly missed. A true pillar in all our lives, we love you!
At the request of family and respect for her wishes, a private memorial service will be held in the summer of 2019. Donations to the War Amps 1-800-465-2677 or Alzheimer’s Society of Algoma 705-942-2195 would be appreciated by the family
