Obituary for
Betty Jean Nesbitt (Morwood)
Nesbitt, Betty Jean – Passed away peacefully on January 25th , 2019 at the age of 89. Sweetheart to the late John “Jack“ Nesbitt and sister of the late Ruth Patterson. They are now re-united to enjoy many more adventures together! Loving mother to Kathy Vendrig and Peter Nesbitt (Darlene). Inspiring grandmother to Tucker and Max (Mackenzie) Vendrig and Elaine and Lauren Nesbitt. Betty will be remembered with a smile by long time friends and cousins Mary, Phyllis, Marie, Linda, Eric, Lynn and Larry, and many more. Betty was born into the Morwood family with roots in Welland dating back to the early 1800’s. As a life time resident of Welland, her working life included Atlas Steels, R. Morwood Company, Smith’s Stationary and Hills Boles. She treasured the friendships she built through her work life, as a member of the Central United Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation, bridge groups and social activities. Betty embraced travelling. During her early years, she explored several destinations in Europe and North America and spent summers along the shores of Lake Erie. Trips to the Caribbean and United Kingdom with her husband and road trips with her children created wonderful and meaningful memories. Betty and Jack joined bus trips throughout the United States and in her later years, Betty embarked on several cruises with her friend Doris. Her mode of transportation may have changed over the years – but the theme was the same…Let’s GO! In her leisure time, Betty created art, played bridge, absorbed mystery novels and conquered crossword puzzles. Her paintings and sketches are enjoyed in many homes from all stages of her life. A private family interment took place on January 29, 2019 at Pleasantview Cemetery in Fonthill.
