Bernard Reddigan
January 19, 1936 – February 03, 2019
With heavy hearts and cherished memories, the family of Bernard Reddigan of Stephenville announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick hospital in Stephenville on February 3rd.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 60 years,Rona, his daughter Delia(Clyde),sons Kevin(Phyllis),Perry(Tavis), Sheldon(Becky) and 3 grandsons Ian, Jordan(Hayley) of Edmonton and Andrew(Carley and Mila),brother Kevin of Mount Pearl, sister Mary Oliver of St John’s and a large circle of nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Bernard was born to Martin and Ann Reddigan of Calvert and moved to the West Coast at the tender age of 17 with his sister Margaret who was teaching in the area
He met his wife Rona and together they raised their family in Cape St. George. Bernard was a hard working man who instilled independence and an excellent work ethic in his children. He always encouraged them to be the best they could be. Bernard started his work with the Harmon Air Force in Stephenville until it’s closing in 1966.
After that he became a heavy equipment journeyman which took him away from home for long periods of time
Bernard was a kind and gentle man who was witty and humorous. He enjoyed going to Tim’s twice daily where he would chat with his friends and catch up on all the news.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place at Russell’s Funeral Home in Stephenville on Tuesday from 5-9 pm.
Cremation will follow visitation. The funeral mass will take place on Thursday at 10:30 am from Our Lady of the Cape Church with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Marche’s Point. As Bernard loved animals donations can be made to the SPCA in Bernard’s memory in lieu of flowers.
Many thanks to the Staff at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
