Porter, Barbara Elizabeth- 62, Richmond, passed away February 14,2019 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Shelburne, NS on April 21,1956, she was a daughter to Gladys (Bower) and the late Everett Atkinson. Barbara had a love of horses and was involved in the Exhibitions which was her passion. She worked as a Janitor for the Tri County Regional School Board and as a Farrier around the Tri County area. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Aside from her mother she is survived by her daughter Cary (Greg Purdy) Porter, Rockville; sisters Alberta Bain, Dayton; Anna (George)Cosman, Wellington; Ruby Miller, Dayton; Jeanette Gallagher, Yarmouth; grandchildren Matea (Mikya Francis) Porter and Trinity Porter. Beside her father Barbara was predeceased by her daughter Tammy Porter. As per Barbara’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no Funeral at this time. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund or the Yarmouth Exhibition.
