OBITUARY
Anne Marie Smallie
February 9, 1944 – January 30, 2019
With great sadness the family and friends of Anne Marie Smallie say farewell as she embarks on her final journey. Anne’s departure date was January 30, 2019 from St. Michael’s Hospice in Burnaby. She is survived by her brothers David, Dennis (Sandra), sisters Patti (Eldon), Glenda (Alex), many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts & uncles and a large extended family of friends.
Anne (with an e!) was born in St. Paul Alberta on February 9, 1944. As a small child she moved with our mom to the lower mainland and began a lifelong love affair with Vancouver. Anne worked in the insurance business for most of her career until she discovered a new calling helping people in recovery from addiction at a treatment center in Vancouver. Anne’s passions included travel and she explored the world at every opportunity. From her beloved “home” in Egypt to the “Cradle of humanity” in Africa she brought back stories about the world we share and challenged us to look beyond our own perspectives. She also loved all things Christmas and shared that love through legendary Christmas tree decorating and exquisite gift wrapping.
Anne will remain forever in our hearts and we pray for safe passage as she reunites with beloved fellow travellers who went before her. Fare thee well Anne until we meet again.
A celebration of life will be held on February 15, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Centennial Lodge in Queen’s Park, New Westminster.
