Obituary of Julian Velve
January 5, 1926 – February 22, 2019
Age 93
Julian was born in Valhalla Centre, Alberta on January 5, 1926. After attending school in the Valhalla area, he helped his parents on the farm. In the late 1940’s Julian attended CLBI in Camrose where he met his future wife. After Bible school he returned to the farm, later purchasing the farm from his parents.
In 1955 Julian and Viola Wenzel were married. They lived on the farm at Valhalla Centre where they raised their family. In 1999 they moved to Grande Prairie where Julian resided until his passing.
Julian is survived by his son Dwain (Marcelle), grandson Niklas; daughter Esther (Aubrey) Heggelund; inlaws Victor (Dorothy) Wenzel, Vivian McElhinney, Ivor (Susie) Wenzel, Lyla Rutherford and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Viola, his mother and father Bennie and Petrine Velve, sister Inger Velve; inlaws Carl and Renata Johnson; Jim and Berniece Thygesen, Theodore Wenzel, Leland and Grace Wenzel, Bill McElhinney, and Carol Rutherford.
A Funeral Service for Julian will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 1pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9929 105 Avenue, Grande Prairie, AB. Interment to take place at Valhalla Cemetery at 4:30pm.
The family would like to thank the Grande Prairie Care Centre and Heritage Lodge.
