Peter Edward Steel February 22 2019

STEEL, Peter Edward (Affectionately known as the “Nipissing Gnome”)
Peter Steel died as he lived, peacefully and without fanfare, at his beloved home in Nipissing Township, on Friday, February 22, 2019. He was 77 years old. Peter was the much-loved husband of Raven Littleone of Nipissing; Father of Patty Thompson-Steel (Donny) of Burk’s Falls, Greg Steel (Deanna) of Haliburton, Susie Steel (Paul) of Montreal and stepson Jonathon Spencer of Toronto. He will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren Daniel (Elizabeth), Matthew, and Chloe and his great-grandchildren Izzy, Lilly and Evelyn. Peter is survived by his brother of Jim Steel (the late Maria) and nieces Caroline and Catherine. Peter was a gifted mechanic and woodworker. A conscious environmentalist, Peter lived close to the land and left only a trace footprint on this earth. He was creative, insightful and a wonderful conversationalist. Cremation has taken place. Peter eschewed formality – no funeral service will be held. A celebration of Peter’s life will be announced at a later date.
