Obituary for
Roy H. Cowan
Peacefully on February 21st, 2019, Roy Herbert Cowan passed away at Extendicare Medex Nursing Home in Ottawa in his 92 year. He was born on April 28th, 1927, in Ottawa to Tom and Amelia Cowan. Roy is predeceased by his brother Canon Kenneth and sister-in-law Dorothy, and sisters Verla, Dorothy and Greta and brother-in-law Dick Stollery and nephew Kenneth Stollery. Surviving are four nephews Terry, Peter, Philip and Keith, nieces Colleen Rollwagen and Mary Joan Stollery and their families. As well he leaves behind many great and great-great nephew and nieces.
Roy had a passion for dancing and music, and you could see him around the Byward Market looking for a restaurant or pub to listen to the music and more importantly to dance. He missed his dear sister Dorothy and his companion Muriel Tubman. We would like to thank McLeod House Retirement Home and most recently Extendicare Medex Nursing Home (especially on the third floor) for all their excellent care of Roy in his last years. We will miss the twinkle in his eyes.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Roy’s life at Fourth Avenue Baptist Church, 816 Bank Street, Ottawa on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 1:00p.m. As an expression of sympathy donations to Fourth Avenue Baptist Church would be appreciated.
