Doris Rejane Martenstyn
Martenstyn (Maynard), Doris Rejane, 81 – Truro, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2019 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. She is lovingly remembered by her three sons; John, Andrew (Joy) and Jeff; granddaughters, Samantha (Jared) Hunter, Alexis; two older brothers, Rudy and Donald. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 47 years, Dr. Henry Richard Ludwig Martenstyn; parents, Laurier and Sarah (LaRouche) and sister, Mariette. Doris was born in Dudley, Massachusetts. She became a Registered Nurse and later met and married Ludwig in 1960. She and her family moved to Truro in 1962. Doris was a member of the Gyro Club, St. Andrews United Church, a St. Andrew’s Sunday School Leader, Cub Scouts and the Truro Food Bank. Besides her family and friends, her passions in life included traveling, cooking, entertaining, playing cards, gardening and bargain shopping. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you for the wonderful care given by the doctors, nurses and staff in the CEHHC Palliative Care Unit. The family would also like to express their gratitude to all the friends and neighbours for their love and support. No visitation by her request. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 28th at 7p.m. in the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. A reception will follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, if so desired, in her memory to the Make-A-Wish Atlantic Provinces.
