Henry Charles Jones
Passed away peacefully on February 18, 2019 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Eleanor . They were just shy of their 74th anniversary celebration before Eleanor passed in 2017. Loving and devoted father to Judith Shaw (Larry), Donna Charron (John), Karen Jones (Rémi), Janine Burn (Terry), Kevin Jones (Lisa), Greg Jones (Cynthia) and Mary McCloskey (Joe). Dear grandpa to 14 grandchildren (2 deceased) and 7 great grandchildren. Henry was the last surviving member of a notable Amherstburg family. Predeceased by his parents Earl and Chloe Jones, sisters, Cora Imeson and Mildred Amlin, brothers Murray, Floyd, Harvey, Don, and Ralph.
Henry was a respected member of the business community and a hardworking partner alongside his brothers of Earl Jones and Sons Ltd for many years. Earl Jones and Sons was a pillar in the local community and employed over 200 local people. The company grew to be a thriving business in a variety of sectors including construction, trucking, a fleet of school buses, fuel, an asphalt plant and landholdings. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus for 60 years and held the position of Fourth Degree Knight. He was also a long term volunteer for St. John the Baptist Church in Amherstburg sitting on the Board and Fundraising committee. Henry possessed a quiet and patient demeanor that guided him in his decision making and relationships. He was a wise and honest man who counseled and touched many individuals whose paths he crossed during his life. His grandchildren will never forget grandpa for supplying a wide selection of bicycles, swings, a basketball hoop, a pool, a boat and a huge sandbox down by the river. Visits to grandma and grandpa Jones’s house produced long lasting memories and underscored the importance of family. It is most fitting that Henry passed on Family Day.
We, the family, would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Seacliff Manor in Leamington and the staff of the Bayshore Palliative Care Team. Special thanks to Henry’s table mates at Seacliff, Edith, Joan, Lois and Claudette. They always made him smile.

Visiting will take place on Friday February 22, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday February 23, 2019 from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at Families First, 585 Sandwich St. South, Amherstburg, 519-969-5841. Interment to follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
