It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Heather May Wharran-Klein (nee Smith) of Calgary, surrounded by her daughters and sisters in the ICU at the Foothills Hospital on February 8, 2019 at the age of 60 years.
Heather was the beloved mother of Donna Wharran and Krystal Klein; cherished Nana to Spencer Kight; loving sister to Susan Athias, Wendy Smith, and Kimberly Koskinen (Garry); sister in law to Dennis Klein, Anita Coutu (Leonard), Gerry Steele (Darla), and Doug Boutilier; Auntie to Lindsay Athias-Malc, James Smith (Sonam), Dustin Koskinen (Shelby), Cody Koskinen (Saila), Taylor Smith (Skyler), Karra Donnely (Tim), Rick Coutu, Amanda Boutilier (Curtis), Chelsea Boutilier, Jason Klein, Kyle Klein, Jordan Steele (Kaitlin), Karlee Steele (Anthony); Great Auntie to Jacob, Ava and Liam, Titan and Scout; and Nanty to Brosef. She was predeceased by her father, Douglas Smith; her mother, May Smith; her husband, Dwight Klein; her little sister, Donna Kay Smith; as well as many cherished friends and family members.
Her greatest achievement in life was her two girls, Donna and Krystal. She would tell everyone she knew. Later, she began raising her precious grandson Spencer, who soon became her most cherished “Six Pence”.
Heather loved music, gardening, camping, crocheting, reading, playing darts and pool, or just sitting around the kitchen table having coffee with friends. When she played pool in the city league, years and years ago, Heather beat out her opponents to make it to Las Vegas twice for tournaments!!
If you knew anything about Heather, you knew she would definitely drop what she was dong to come to your aide, whether it was for a should to cry on, an ear to listen, the shirt off her back because you didn’t have one, or to be your wolverine to fight for your cause. She was a true people person no matter what walk of life you came from.
Heather was a wonderful Sister, Daughter, Mother, Nana, Auntie, Great Auntie, Nanty, and friend. Sure you could go long stretches without seeing one another, but she never stopped thinking about you. She tried to keep in touch via phone, text, social media, or just dropping by to see how things were going.
We are all going to miss you Heather. That sparkle that can’t be faked or found in another.
Rest in Eternal Peace.
