It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Volpe on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with cancer. Tom was surrounded by his family when he was called to be with the Lord.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Olga (Carfi’) Volpe, his children, Franca Bonomo (Al), Joe (Nadia) and Anthony. His grandchildren: Claudia (Terry), Sierra, Stefan, Tomas, Alida and Daniel and great grandson, Roman. Son of the late Giuseppe Volpe and Francesca Lorusso. Tom will be sadly missed by his family as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from Canada, Italy and the United States.
Tom was born in Capurso, Bari Italy on April 16, 1943. On October 28, 1965 Tom married the love of his life Olga in Gela, Sicily and soon began his family as well as his career. His passion was welding and he brought his trade to Hamilton in 1966 where his skill and knowledge was respected over the years up until the day he retired in 2017. Tom was known for his love of food, travel and spending time with his friends and family. He had a passion for knowledge especially history and science and loved to debate on these topics as well as politics. He enjoyed challenging his grandchildren and they are forever blessed with the wonderful memories he leaves behind.
Coming from Capurso, Tom was a devotee of the Madonna del Pozzo and made many pilgrimages to the homeland to participate in the 3 day festivities. His devotion to the church and the Madonna was appreciated and he was honoured with a plaque as well has his family name engraved as a special donor. His close friends the Franciscan monks and priests of the church will honour his memory as a giving and generous friend. Tom was also a Knight of Columbus participating in the St. Anthony’s chapter.
Thanks to Dr. O Levine and oncology staff at Juravinski, Dr. L Sewchand and VON nurses, especially Susanne. We would like to thank all our friends and family who have been giving us support during these last few weeks and the prayers from overseas and across the border.

Funeral services will take place at St. Anthony’s Church, on Friday February 22, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the
