MacDonald: Reginald Joseph ‘Reg’
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Reginald Joseph MacDonald, peacefully beside his beloved wife of 56 years, Marie (Cheverie). Reginald in his 84th year, was predeceased by his mother Margaret, father Basil and brother Gerald. Reg leaves behind his much loved children Shane (late Julie); David (Sherry); Paul (Marisa); Marc (Edwina); Scott (Heidi); Janine. His grandchildren Jamie, Noah, Danielle, Holly, Travis, Aaron, Benny, Shannon,… Read More » Meghan, Elijah, Jonah, Lauren and Amber (and great grandchildren) brought much joy to him every day and he expressed his pride in them and their accomplishments. He will also be sadly missed by his son Jim Larkin (Sharon) and family from Harrisburg PA, USA.
Reg was an active volunteer all of his life, serving with the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and the Waterdown Sportsmen Club. Reg was a faith filled man serving many years in different positions with Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Reg received his 45 year pin from the Royal Canadian Legion with appreciation earlier this year. Reg came from Tracadie, PEI where he leaves behind his younger twin brothers Donald and Charlie at the homestead. His favourite place in the world though was East Point, PEI where he enjoyed many summers playing games of “45” with family and friends at that peace filled place. Reg spent a long successful career with CNR. He was a musician who entertained with gusto in his early years (sweeping Marie off her feet) and later played the piano at Christmas with the nudges of his grandchildren.
Visitation will be at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Monday February 18th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm with prayers following. The Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, February 19th at OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 79 Freelton Rd., Freelton, ON at 10 am.
In Lieu of flowers, donations to Hamilton Right to Life or Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Freelton, ON would be gratefully accepted.
