Obituary for
Wayne Thomas Nattrass
Nattrass, Wayne Thomas:
1947 – 2019
Passed away suddenly on Friday, January 4th, 2019.
A career; first as a furniture designer for SunarHauserman of Waterloo, and then as a project manager for Magna International, was cut short by a catastrophic stroke in 1992. Faced with physical disabilities and numerous medical complications, Wayne unreservedly met these challenges with discipline, grace, gratitude and humour. A source of continual inspiration to those who encountered him, he was forever grateful for each additional day of life as a gift: The best of times revealing themselves in boundless acts of kindness and compassion, confirming the ultimate triumph of human spirit. . .The worst of times, experienced in the moments of despair, edging up against the limitations of human frailty and vulnerability. His ongoing interests and hobbies included photography, small scale modelling, Formula 1 Racing, music compilations – especially jazz, and design.
A special note of gratitude: To our family physician Dr. D.J. McGhee, who for many years, skillfully guided Wayne through numerous, complex health issues. To Dr. Mark Benaroia and the entire renal clinic and hemodialysis team at Grand River Hospital who provided exemplary, comprehensive care. The enthusiasm, dedication and professionalism of all these individuals assuredly provided a level of dignity and trust that despite ongoing difficulties, provided Wayne with a foundation for perseverance and an experience of well being.
Private cremation has taken place. Life celebration to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation – Renal Clinic would be appreciated. Cards available at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 519-749-8467 or visit www.henrywalser.com.
Wayne continued with an open, tender heart, joyfully embracing his relationships: devoted wife Lucy, loving extended family, loyal friends, good neighbours and various kindly acquaintances who would enter into his life. He will be greatly missed and fondly, lovingly remembered.
“Now cracks a noble heart. -Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest”
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Wayne Thomas
