It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Wargala (nee Krzanowska) at the age of 82. Wanda (Wandzia) passed away peacefully at Copernicus Lodge after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and joins her late husband Stanislaw Wargala. Wanda was born in the town of Korczyna, southeastern Poland on July 22, 1936 to Jadwiga Roman (Zych) and Stanislaw Krzanowski. Her early childhood coincided with World War II, and nearly ended tragically at the age of 7 after she was hit with stray fire. Wanda survived this encounter, but not without suffering lasting effects. Wanda earned her Master of Economics from Jagiellonian University in Krakow. She later went on to oversee the finances at the food processing plant back in her native town of Korczyna, and along with her love of travelling, organized countless trips across Eastern Europe for her coworkers. In the early 70’s, her aunt Malania invited her to visit Canada, which is where she met her late husband Stanislaw and were married shortly thereafter. Wanda was a remarkable cook, developing a reputation for her fantastic pierogi. She was also a dedicated fan of the Toronto Blue Jays never missing a game either on TV or in the stands.
Wanda is predeceased by her late husband Stanislaw, leaves behind her son Robert and his wife Nadine, and her two grandchildren Paige and Finnley. Wanda leaves behind her brother Zbigniew, is predeceased by her brothers Stanislaw and Jozef and sister Janina. Wanda will also be missed by step children Barbara, Zygmunt (Jocelyne), Lillian (Maurice) and Arthur (Angèle) and their families. Friends and family will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 9-10:15 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Maximillian Kolbe Church (4260 Cawthra Rd, Mississauga) at 11:00 a.m. the same day followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery (6933 Tomken Rd, Mississauga, at Derry Rd.)
