Obituary of Valeria Harmer
(nee Hoffer)
Valeria passed away peacefully at St. Andrew’s Terrace in Cambridge on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the age of 91.
Predeceased by her parents Orval Hoffer and Maria Giilck, sister Dorothy Gregg (Lawrence), brother Robert Hoffer (Doris), sister Marilyn Lippert (Fred), husband Robert T. Harmer, and daughter Lyn Harmer.
Survived by her sister Karen Boltz and husband William, son Robert S. Harmer and wife Heather, son-in-law Peter Kade, grandson Joel Snyder, granddaughters Tammy Harmer (Steve), Crystal Harmer, Kimberley Harmer (Matthew), great-granddaughter Isabelle Gillick, and many nieces and nephews.
Valeria was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kitchener. Prior to marriage, Valeria worked for B. F. Goodrich and, following her marriage to Bob, she enjoyed working in the greenhouses that she and Bob operated for many years. She was known as the flower lady of Layton Street, Kitchener. She was also active with the Cub Scouts and Brownies. In later life, she enjoyed traveling to Eastern Canada with Bob and teaching line dancing.
Valeria’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 3 – 3:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will immediately follow the service in the funeral home’s Fireside Room.
