PETRASHKEWYCH, Sofia (nee Koziej) –
With her daughters by her side, at Trillium Health Centre on Thursday, January 3, 2019, Sophia passed away in her 91st year. Beloved wife for 58 years of the late John. Loving mother of Vera (Oles), Darka (the late Mike), Halyna (Paul) and Zoriana (John). Cherished grandmother of Tamara (Matthew), Alanna, Elysia, Olivia, Andrew, John Andrew, Muxash and Kalyna. Sister of the late Josef Koziej. Sadly missed by her family in Ontario and Poland. Sophia was born on July 28, 1928 in Oleszyce, Ukraine. She lost her father at the age of 2 and lived with her brother and mother. Despite living through the hardships of WWII, her mother raised her with a strong faith and value for family. In 1958 she met John and immigrated to Canada where they raised four daughters. Sophia was a skilled homemaker with the emphasis of healthy living, creative sewing and a respect for nature. The family spent many memorable years at the cottage. “Sonechko” (Sunshine) as she was referred to by many was a cheerful, positive young spirit to her last days. Sophia will be sadly missed. “Vichnaya Pamnayt”.
