It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Roy Whetter on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the age of 58 years.
Roy was born on January 18, 1960 in Edmonton, Alberta to Russell and Ella Whetter. He grew up and spent his childhood with his six siblings Sandy, Marty, Al, Daryl, Ron and Nancy in Canmore, Alberta until age 9, and then in Crossfield, Alberta. Roy loved playing sports, especially hockey, and riding motorcycles and tinkering with all things mechanical. His aptitude with all things mechanical turned into a career and Roy became a Millwright in 1985. He worked at the East Crossfield Gas Plant for 18 years and then went on to start his own successful business, RCS Mechanical, and he worked extensively in the oil and gas industry in Alberta.
Roy married Lisa (nee Popp) in 1985 and they had two children, Cheston and Sharmaine.
Hard working Roy found fun and enjoyment spending time with family and friends and enjoying the great outdoors.
Roy was predeceased by his father Russell Whetter.
Roy will be greatly missed by his children Cheston (Amy and recent grand-daughter Satie) and Sharmaine (JT); his mother Ella and his siblings Sandy (Chase & Chelsea), Marty (Tracy, Carly & Jennifer), Al, Daryl, Ron and Nancy (Darren, Mitchell & Tessa).
Grand-daughter Satie Catherine Whetter, born November 17, 2018, was Roy’s pride and joy and he loved her dearly; she was Grandpa Roy’s little angel.
Roy touched the lives of everyone he met, and although gone far too soon, the family is ever grateful for the years they had being loved and cared for by this kind and wonderful man. He truly had a heart of gold.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Crossfield Community Centre, 900 Mountain Ave., Crossfield, AB on Saturday, January 26th at 2:00 PM.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Roy Henry Whetter January 16th 2019..
