It is with broken hearts and sadness the family of Rowena “Red” Ramsay announce her passing, which occurred surrounded by her loving family at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday January 24, 2019. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Duncan and Molly Loughery. In her earlier days, she worked for Eddie Match Factory in Ontario where she met the love of her life Charles F. Ramsay. Later working for Red Rose Tea Factory. A member of the Order of Royal Purple, a talented cook and seamstress. She loved sharing fond memories of the “Old Place” in Fairfield. Devoted wife for 66 years to Charles Ramsay; loving mother to seven children Fred Ramsay (Ghislaine) of Saint John, Bob Ramsay (Sherry), Blaine Ramsay (Noella), Marguerite Saunders (Steve), Charles Ramsay Jr. (Vicki Dineen), Perry Ramsay (Carolyn) all of Quispamsis and Regena Johnston (Barry) of Nauwigewauk; 14 grandchildren, Ashlee Ramsay, Matthew Ramsay, Lindsay Ramsay, Amy Ramsay, Jessica Ramsay, Luke Ramsay, Nicholas Ramsay, Darren Ramsay, Darren Saunders, Allison Saunders, Candace Ramsay, Travis Ramsay, Samantha Ramsay, Seth Ramsay and Lilly Ramsay 5 great-grandchildren Reed Hatfield, Blake Hatfield, Finley Ramsay, Fletcher Ramsay and Violet Ferris; brother-in-law Lorne Troutman; sister-in-law Marjorie Loughery; and Donna Ramsay; several nieces and nephews a caring sister, aunt and friend to many. Those who knew her will miss her forever.
Along with her parents, Red was predeceased by daughter-in-law Joanne Ramsay; siblings and spouses; Gladys Russell (Doug), Marguerite Loughery, Eldon Loughery (Lorraine), Raymond Loughery, Murray Loughery (Irene), Myrna Troutman, Ruth Bateman (Joe) and Victoria Kierstead Ralph Loughery (Mary); sisters & brothers-in-laws Allen, Barry and Joan Ramsay.

Upright and just to the end of her days.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road with visitation to be held on Monday January 28, 2019 from 2-8 p.m. Memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday January 29th at 1:00 p.m.Donations in Rowena’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Palliative Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
