OBITUARY
Peter Sommer
August 11, 1950 – January 19, 2019
Passed away at St. Mary’s General Hospital on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the age of 68 years.
Peter Sommer was born to the late Bruno (1980) and Paula Sommer, together with his twin sister Anita Sommer on August 11, 1950. He had an older brother Rolf Sommer (Janice) and a nephew Eric Sommer. The family spent an altogether idyllic childhood in a small village in Germany. The family decided to emigrate to Canada in 1966 when Peter was 15. Peter enjoyed camping and canoeing. He was an avid reader and loved studying maps of all kinds. He was also a craftsman and expert woodworker and always ready, willing, and able to help his family in whatever emergency presented itself. He had a very imaginative mind, including his interest in photography. Peter worked in the customer service department of Burrough’s Business Machines, Onward Manufacturing (Euroclean), and T.A. Appliance Warehouse. He regularly attended services at the New Apostolic Church, first in Waterloo, later on Margaret Ave., along with his family. Peter will be sorely missed by family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Peter’s family will receive relatives and friends at the New Apostolic Church, 160 Margaret Ave., Kitchener, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, where the memorial service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Interment at a later date at Parkview Cemetery.
