Norma Joan Porter Robertson February 6 1943 January 21 2019 (age 75)

Our Mom and GG was a one of a kind, genuine little lady. She was funny, sassy, and fiercely independent. Born to Roy and Eunice Porter, Norma lived in Vancouver BC in the house that her Dad built on Hazelton Street. 4 kids were raised in this house, Lawrence, Tommy, Kenny and Norma.
A Scottish man named James (Jim) Robertson came into her life and they quickly married when Norma was 18. Alexander, Derek, Robin and Margaret came along and life became busy with caring for the kids and keeping up with all things domestic. Mom loved baking, knitting, gardening and sewing. She also liked gambling, smoking and reading risqué romance novels. Life was not always easy, Dad became sick and Mom cared for him for many years. She was widowed at 42. Out of necessity, she learned to drive and took driving lessons alongside her 16 year old daughter.
A simple, content life was led with regular visits to Vancouver to see her close family members Tommy, Dianne, and kids. Her family grew with the addition of many grandchildren which she often lovingly called “the brats”. A trip to GG’s house usually included, chocolate chip cookies and learning a new swear word or two. One thing for sure is that she loved all of us in her own way and right about now, she would be saying, “enough of this crap, you’re all nuts!”
