MACKINNON, Mildred Marie
It is with great sadness that the family of Millie ‘Ma’ MacKinnon announce her
passing at Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 26, 2019, surrounded by all
of her family and loved ones. Born February 18, 1938, she was the daughter of
Martin and Mary Gouthro.
Millie was a long-term member of Branch 126 Legion, Lady’s Auxiliary, worked as
a ground’s supervisor for the Cape Breton Regional School Board, was a
homemaker, an avid player of darts, and loved her family.
Millie is survived by sister, Regina (Cecil); brother, Tom (Peggy); daughters, Marie
(Allan), Beth (Paul), Patricia (Bruce), Charlene (Ed), Leona, Cecilia (Sandy), Tracy,
and by sons, Francis, Gerard (Judy) and Leonard (Pat). She had 12 grandchildren
and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband, Joseph MacKinnon; son, David, Anthony
MacKinnon; sisters, Martina Donovan and Josephine Boutilier, as well as her
Brother, Freddie Gouthro.
Her family would to thank the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for
everything they did to accommodate them.
Visitation for Mildred will be held at Chant’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, January
29, 2019 from 12-2 p.m. Celebration of life immediately afterwards, 2 p.m. in the
funeral home chapel.
Donations to be made to any charity of choice.

St., Sydney.
