Mildred Beatrice Cook
1929-2019
The family of Mildred Beatrice Mary Cook announce her
peaceful passing on January 1, 2019 after a brief illness at the Saint
John Regional Hospital.
Mildred was born on September 6, 1929 in Montreal to the late
Wesley and Corine (Landriault) Croft. Her father Wesley, a marine
engineer, moved the family to Longbranch (Toronto) in the 1940s where
Mildred studied voice at the University of Toronto. She had a
life-long appreciation of music and the arts, being an integral
organizer of the Rothesay Music Festival. Mildred was past president
of the Saint John YWCA and was appointed to the national board. She
was proud of her work and the department as Director of Social
Services/Discharge Planning at St. Joseph’s Hospital until
her retirement. Mildred was past president of the Gerontology
Association of New Brunswick and was an active parishioner at St.
Paul’s Anglican Church in Rothesay. She was an avid bridge
enthusiast. In addition to gardening and reading she loved wintering
with Lionel at their home in Florida and summers at Oromocto
Lake.
Mildred will be lovingly remembered by her husband
Lionel of 67 years, son Bruce (Dale), daughters Deborah Marshall and
Linda Logan (Timothy). She is also survived by her twin sister Wilda
Ledden; grandchildren: Jeremy Cook, Alexander Cook, Elizabeth Cook
(James Clarke), Amanda Cook, Adam Cook, Christopher Logan and Meghan
Logan; great grandchildren Jaelee Dickies and Robey Ellis along with
several nieces and nephews. Mildred was predeceased by her sons David
and Kevin.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community
Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). Visitation
will be Friday, January 11, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Eucharistic
funeral service will be held Saturday, January 12 at 11:00 AM at St.
Paul’s Anglican Church, 4 Church Avenue, Rothesay, NB. In
lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul’s Church
Rothesay or to the Primate’s World Relief Development Fund
(The Anglican Church of Canada) or the donor’s choice.
