Michael Harry Wilcox 19512019

Michael Harry Wilcox
1951-2019
On Tuesday, January 8th, 2019, Michael Harry Wilcox passed away
unexpectedly at his home. Born in Blacks Harbour, NB in 1951, he is
the son of the late George and Bessie (Cook) Wilcox and the beloved
husband of Anne (Svantesson) Wilcox.
Michael worked for NB Power in the Service & Maintenance
Department at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station for 29
years, retiring in 2009. The brotherhood was very important to him and
over those years he rarely missed a union meeting, which was quite
apparent by the number of door prizes he managed to bring home.
He was also a member of the Faith Baptist Church for a number of years
and had previously served as a trustee with the church.
Michael’s discovery of his faith led him to his most recent
passion, the Tay Valley Bible Camp and he treasured the moments spent
there with his grandchildren and his dear friends Don and Doug, as
well as, the opportunities to fellowship and grow with other
Christians.
Anyone who knew Michael, knew of his love and total dedication to the
Boston Red Sox, evidenced in his basement “Man Cave”
where, if you played your cards right, you may have been honored to
visit. There was an annual migration with the boys from work to a
ballgame where serious adventures were had and one particular year
where Anne got to tag along.
Michael loved his truck and he loved his dogs. He was often seen and
came to be well recognized, driving through town or going through the
drive-thru with his dogs by his side.
Michael was full of life with a witty, sarcastic, sense of humor that
could light up a room and keep you in stitches. He will be greatly
missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Along with his adored wife Anne, Michael is survived by their loving
children. His son Brent of Fredericton and grandchildren Abby and
Charlotte Wilcox of Mactaquac; his daughter Meaghan Wilcox and
grandchildren Kristjan Wilcox and Anexcee Haitsma of Winnipeg, MB;
Anne’s boys; David Whittaker (Jesica Yawnghwe) of Edmonton, AB.,
and Steven and Thomas Whittaker, both of Yellowknife; Anne’s
“chosen daughter” Shannon Boos (Curtis) of Edmonton, AB; 3
brothers and 4 sisters; 3 grandchildren on Anne’s side of the
family, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends and
his much loved and very loyal four legged companion, Kooper.
In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his 3 brothers
and 2 sisters and his beautiful dog Maggie.
In keeping with Michael’s wishes, an opportunity to visit with
his family will take place Friday at Faith Baptist Church in New
Maryland from 4-8 pm. A service of remembrance and celebration will be
held at 2 pm on Saturday, January 12th, 2019 from Faith Baptist
Church, 525 New Maryland Hwy, New Maryland, NB (506) 459-8756 followed
by a time of fellowship.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of
McAdam’s Funeral Home. (506) 458-9170. Memorial donations made
in Honor of Michael to the Tay Valley Bible Camp would certainly be
appreciated by the family.
