Margaret Payie August 19 1945 December 12 2018

In Loving Memory Of
Margaret Payie
Margaret Penelope Payie passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 73.
Margaret was born August 19, 1945 in Parry Sound, ON to Priscilla Payie (nee Montgomery), and Robert Payie.
She was the second of eight children. She attended school and graduated from college in Ontario and, soon after, moved to Edmonton, AB where she worked hard, while raising her two daughters. When her girls were grown, she relocated to British Columbia for a few years to be closer to family, but soon found herself back in Alberta to be with her girls.
She is survived by her daughters: Tracee Gillman (nee Butz), and Jennifer (Terry) Batt (nee Butz); granddaughters: Carlee (Dennis) Robinson (nee Butz), and Sydnee Gillman; sisters: Heather Payie, Constance Cryderman, and Lisa (Charlie Evans) Payie; brothers: Ev (Michelle) Payie, Paul Payie, and John Payie; many nieces and nephews; as well as her cat Kitty Kibbles.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents Priscilla Payie, and Robert Payie, as well as her sister Sharron.
Mom taught us to be strong. She taught us to be honest, responsible, and to work hard at everything we did. She loved us and there isn`t anything she wouldn`t have done for us.
Mom was known to be stubborn and feisty, as well as smart and kind. She loved life and anyone she met. She was proud to be a senior and was always looking for her seniors’ discount. It was common for her to strike up a conversation with anyone and walk away knowing their life story. She had a way about her that people would open up to and trust her, they could tell that she cared. From buying a sandwich and coffee for the homeless person on the street, to working for many years in a women’s shelter, she was always giving and wanting to help.
We sat at many Christmas dinners with a mix of friends, coworkers and family whom she brought together, so everyone would have somewhere to be. She would give you the shirt off her back, despite the challenges and struggles she was having, and never lost sight of doing her best to raise her two daughters. We had our bumps and bruises over the years, but mom made us proud. She will forever be remembered for her open arms, love of people, joy of life and her beautiful smile.
Mom, chow for now.
Her celebration of life was enjoyed over the last 73 years.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Margaret Payie August 19 1945 December 12 2018..
