It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Margaret Dorothy “Dot” Kearney which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 15th, 2019. Born 1943, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Gooden) Cochrane. Margaret worked for Income Tax and Unemployment Insurance for many years before retiring in 1993. She was involved with the Liberal Party of New Brunswick, Saint John Boys & Girls Club and St. Vincent’s de Paul.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Brenda Kearney Gogan (Bruce) of Saint John; brothers Charles Cochrane (Juanita) of Saint John, Jack Cochrane (Judy) of Ontario, Gerald Cochrane (Cathy) of Saint John; sisters Betty Fudge of Quispamsis, Alice LeBlanc (Paul) of Saint John, Brenda McOuan of L’Etete, NB, Dawn Hinton (Roland) of Saint John; grandchildren Ryan, Stacia, Stephen, Maria, and Kathryn; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband Thomas Kearney and sister Florence Gallant.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Memorial Service will be held at the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, January 19th at 2 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation or to Bobby’s Hospice.
