Lindsay Charles Roy passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Valley Stream Manor in Ottawa at the age of 96. Lindsay was predeceased by his sister Theresa, his parents George and Mary Roy (nee Colton), his beloved wife Margaret (nee Walsh), and his loving daughter Teresa Basile.
He is remembered by his devoted daughter Susan Picco and his caring sons-in-law, Frank Picco and Marco Basile. Lindsay is also survived by his six grandchildren Jason Picco (Ashley), Cristina Vizena (Shaun), Sandra Gambarotto (Robert), Laura Johnson (Geoffrey), Emma St-Georges (Christian), and Lianna Basile. Lindsay’s legacy will continue to live on through his 12 great-grand children Julien and Kyle Picco, Lauren, Anna, and Jonathan Vizena, Michaela, Tessa, and Nicholas Gambarotto, Emily and Eric Johnson, and Katelyn and Liliane St-Georges. He will be missed by a large extended family and good friends, especially the members of St. Basil’s choir and Heather Reid.
The family wish to thank the staff at Valley Stream Manor for the wonderful care Lindsay received during his time there. Lindsay was always shown the greatest respect and dignity.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Tubman Garden Chapel 3440 Richmond Road Nepean, Ontario K2H 8H7 on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Funeral will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at St. Basil’s Roman Catholic Church 940 Rex Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario K2A 2P7 at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow in the church hall. A private internment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
